From The EditorThe snow has gone and we’re looking forward to the Spring! This issue includes the information for the South West AGM in March. This website gives, as usual, dates for your diary and we hope to see you at one of them. The first Ringing Round the Region is at Sandford, near Crediton on 5th February followed by Ashreigney (near Chulmleigh) on 12th March. We’ve actually got a ‘Letter to the Editor’ in this issue – a rarity indeed! What do you think about the South West Newsletter? Many Regions have now abandoned a printed Newsletter and, instead, use the internet to send out copies. The South West Committee is wondering whether we should follow that route. It has the advantage that it can be distributed much more cheaply – the postage alone for one issue is about £300 and is going up again soon. Another advantage is that it can be made more immediate (we don’t have to have just 2 per year, we could have 3 or 4) and it could be made more interactive so you could download booking forms, reply to questionnaires and see more photographs taken at events. But, of course, not everyone uses a computer so they would lose out. So perhaps we need a ‘halfway house’, say one or two printed copies for each team and emailed copies for every individual who has given us an email address? If we change over to emailed newsletters it’s too late to complain if you don’t like it! Please let us know what you think. Who knows, perhaps we could have some more letters to the Editor?
